Consisting of 700 photographs and other illustrations, some in colour, this is the first photographic record of the significant black involvement in the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902. The majority of the photographs and illustrations included have never before appeared in print and is from the War Museum’s collection. The full range of black involvement is featured, including the life in the concentration camps, blockhouse guards, prisoners of war, black scouts serving with the British and Agterryers with the Boer forces.
